How the Ultra2 works:The Ultra2 is a glucose testing meter that uses a lancet to get the blood sample. Most blood glucose monitors such as the Ultra2 has three separate parts that are required for them to work properly: a lancer, a test strip and the meter itself. The Ultra2 includes a lancing device or the lancet which you prick your finger with. You collect the small amount of blood on a testing strip which the monitor reads. You can see the results within five seconds. The Ultra2 has a backlit screen that allows you to take a reading in any situation even if it is in a low light area.
What the Ultra2 does:
Monitors like the OneTouch Ultra2 measure the amount of sugar in a sample of blood using a chemical process. The test strip has some chemicals in it which when mixed with your blood sample reads the concentration of blood glucose in the sample. The blood sample used by the Ultra2 is very small. It says on their website that it uses a sample size of 1.0 micro liter which is quite small.
The benefits of the Ultra2:
Because this glucose testing meter is small, it weighs 1.5 ounces and is 3.12” by 2.25” by 0.90” in size; you can easily carry it with you. There are six different meters that all use the same test strips so if you own two of these glucose testing meters you can use the test strips interchangeably.
